The National Kidney Foundation's mission is the total eradication of kidney and urinal tract disease. They serve pre renal and renal disease patients and families, donor families, and transplant recipients. They have state chapters with a directory available. The state chapters provide assistance to individuals who wish to start a support group in their locality. The Foundation provides parent-to-parent matching through their pen pals section of their newsletter.

 

 

Where to Go to Chat with Others

• Kidney Kids
  Caring for kidney failure, this group is for parents, friends and family caring for kids and kids living with kidney disease, end stage renal failure and kidney transplants.
• Kids with Kidney Reflux
  This is an email list for parents of children w/vesicourectic disease better known as Kidney Reflux.(This list is also for any person that has dealt w/this or that is dealing w/this.)We can support one another during hospital stays, surgeries,and tests. We can help one another by sharing information regarding this illness and all the symptoms and things that doctors forget to include to inform us of. If your child is having UTI's (urinary tract infections)on a regualar basis or just getting them as an infant, you might want to look into this group.
• PUVs - Posterior Urethral Valves
  A list for parents and caregivers of children with Posterior Urethral Valves (or other obstructive uropathy). We also welcome members who have children with prune belly syndrome, VATERS, or other congenital urologic or kidney anomoly.
• KidComm Email Group
  For Parents of children with Nephrotic Syndrome
• Transplant
  Organ transplant recipients and anyone else interested in the issues.
• Kidney Transplants
  A discussion group for patients about to be or already transplanted with a new kidney. Medicinces, Life-style, Quality of life, side-effects, coping and things to watch out for.
• Dialysis Support - ESRD: End Stage Renal Disease
  We care, share, listen and discuss concerns as a starting point, a good way towards helping each other adapt to adjustments and truly survive kidney failure successfully. We help each other adapt and compromise to what becomes reality.
